LABOUR OF LOVE

LABOUR OF LOVE

From little things..

Having been exposed to the dramatic gap of equality in the world at quite a young age during my travels between Australia and Africa - I always felt like something was 'off' and growing up as a white girl in a first world country I was aware that I had privileges and opportunities that others didn't.

After years of searching, trail and error as an adult - I finally came across OrphFund and was able to contribute to changing this in a meaningful and sustainable way.

OrphFund is a grass-roots organisation powered by 100% volunteer involvement. Running self-sustaining projects throughout Kenya, Sierra Leone and Uganda they partner with existing local organisations to provide homes, education, food, medical care to children in vulnerable situations.

We work in partnership with the local communities and authorities to determine the needs and help ensure the success and implementation of our work.

It is an organisation with soul fuelled by the passion, love, research & dedication of everyday individuals that want to make a difference.

In 2013 I traveled to Sierra Leone on my first OrphFund volunteer trip & have since taken part in & coordinated two more trips in Uganda, helping to build schools & children's homes throughout different regions.

Being 100% volunteer based means no overheads for marketing, western salaries & admin costs that so often drain the donations & funding of larger organisations. It all goes directly to the projects, making a direct & life changing impact to the thousands of lives of they touch.

A % of all of my coaching packages sold go towards the work of OrphFund.

The communities we work with, inspire, challenge & teach me so much & I am forever grateful for the love, compassion & friendship that we share.

" But where does all the funding come from? "

As volunteers we are all fully self funded. We cover our own costs for flights, food, accommodation and any extras while on the ground in Africa.

To run the projects Steven, The Founder & CEO & his beautiful wife, Leah spend hours each week creating amazing recycled timber blocks using cut offs from her workshop & photos he has taken. These and other handmade goods are sold each weekend at the Rose Street Artist Markets in Fitzroy, Melbourne ( & online )

We also have a fantastic community of volunteers who bucket shake at the markets each weekend, a loving collective of donors & sponsors who support our work on a continual basis, & many other incredible humans who come together to fundraise, donate & raise awareness.
